Privacy policy
PrimalTrac does not collect your personal data. Everything you log stays on your iPhone, there is no account, and nothing is sold, shared or used for advertising.
Who we are
PrimalTrac is an iPhone app for tracking a carnivore or animal-based diet. It is made by Marc Laban, an individual developer based in the United Kingdom.
For any question about this policy or your data, email support@primaltrac.com.
What the app stores
Everything you enter is saved only on your iPhone, inside the app. We never receive it, and there is no account or sign-in. This includes:
- the foods you log, your favourites and your own foods
- your weight, water, exercise and fasting records
- your diet level, calorie and macro targets, and goal
- the age, height, sex and activity level you give for calorie estimates
- your reminder and app settings
If your iPhone backs up to iCloud or a computer, that backup may include the app's data. Those backups are handled by Apple under its own terms, not by us.
Apple Health
Connecting Apple Health is optional. If you turn it on in Settings, PrimalTrac reads two kinds of data, and only with your permission:
- Workouts, from your iPhone, Apple Watch or other fitness apps, to add them to your exercise log
- Body weight, for example from smart scales, to add weigh-ins to your weight log
PrimalTrac does not write anything to Apple Health. Data from Apple Health:
- stays on your iPhone and is never sent to us or anyone else
- is never shared with or sold to third parties
- is never used for advertising, marketing or data mining
- is used only to show your own exercise and weight in the app
You can stop access at any time in iPhone Settings › Health › Data Access & Devices › PrimalTrac, or by turning it off in the app.
Barcode and product lookups
When you scan a barcode or search for a product, the app sends the barcode number or your search words to Open Food Facts, a free food database, to fetch the product's details. Nothing else is sent with it: no name, account or diary data.
Like any website, Open Food Facts' servers see your device's internet (IP) address when the app connects. How they handle that is set out in the Open Food Facts privacy policy at world.openfoodfacts.org/privacy. Products you look up are saved on your phone so they work offline next time.
Reminders, purchases, ads and tracking
- Reminders are scheduled on your iPhone itself. No server sends them and nothing about them leaves your phone.
- Premium purchases are handled entirely by Apple. We never see your card or payment details.
- No ads and no tracking. PrimalTrac has no advertising, no analytics and no tracking tools, and does not follow you across other apps or websites.
Deleting your data and your rights
- Download it: Settings › Export my data (CSV) gives you a spreadsheet of everything you have logged.
- Delete it: Settings › Delete all data wipes it from the app. Deleting the app removes it from your phone too.
Under UK data protection law (UK GDPR) you can ask what personal data we hold about you and ask us to delete it. Because PrimalTrac keeps your data only on your device, we hold none, but you are welcome to email support@primaltrac.com with any question.
Children and changes to this policy
PrimalTrac is meant for adults and is not intended for anyone under 18.
If the app starts handling data differently, for example by adding cloud backup or accounts, we will update this policy before that change goes live and change the date at the top.
